Vance: ‘I admire the Pope as a champion of peace, but I disagree with him on some issues’

Turin, 15 April (LaPresse) – “I also like it when there is disagreement. I like it when the Pope comments on immigration issues, I like it when the Pope speaks about abortion, I like it when the Pope addresses issues of war and peace, because I think that, at the very least, he invites conversation. There are certainly things the Pope has said in recent months with which I disagree.” This was stated by US Vice-President JD Vance during an interview with Turning Point USA in Georgia, as reported by CNN. “On the one hand, once again, I like that the Pope is a champion of peace. I think that is certainly one of his roles,” said Vance. “On the other hand, how can one say that God is never on the side of those who take up the sword? Was God on the side of the Americans who liberated France from the Nazis? Was God on the side of the Americans who liberated the Holocaust camps and saved those innocent people from those who had perpetrated the Holocaust? I certainly think so,” he explained.
