Ukraine: Kiev’s army strikes Russian drone factory, causing a fire

Kyiv (Ukraine), 19 April (LaPresse/AP) – Ukraine has struck a drone factory in the city of Taganrog, according to the Ukrainian General Staff. The site is located in south-western Russia. According to the Ukrainian military, Ukrainian drones caused a fire at the Atlant Aero plant, which designs and manufactures attack and reconnaissance drones, as well as components for more powerful drones capable of carrying guided bombs weighing up to 250 kilograms. The Ukrainian Navy added that it had carried out the attack on the drone factory using domestically produced Neptune cruise missiles. “This defence enterprise is an important part of the Russian military-industrial complex, where the drones were developed and produced,” reads a post by the navy on social media. It also shared images showing a huge cloud of smoke over the city, which it claimed was caused by the impact of the attacks.
