Iran, NGO: “At least 3,646 arrested by the regime since the beginning of the war”

Milano, Apr 21 (LaPresse) – Since the beginning of the war in Iran, at least 3,646 Iranians have been arrested by the ayatollah regime. Of these, at least 767 were detained after the ceasefire entered into force on April 8. This was reported by the NGO Iran Human Rights. According to data collected by the organization, those arrested include at least 111 human rights defenders, including political activists and ordinary citizens. Given internet blackouts and the vague statistics provided by the authorities of the Islamic Republic, the agency reports that the actual number of arrests is likely much higher. The charges brought against detainees mainly include espionage, communication with foreign intelligence services, transmission of images or coordinates of sensitive sites to foreign-based media, and attempts to form operational cells or carry out armed activities.
