Washington (USA), April 29 (LaPresse) – James Comey is expected to surrender today to law enforcement at a federal court in Virginia. CNN reports this, citing a federal official familiar with the matter. Yesterday, the Department of Justice filed new criminal charges against the former FBI director, who is considered by President Trump to be one of his main political enemies. Comey was indicted over a photograph he posted on Instagram last year while on vacation, in which seashells appeared arranged to form the words “86 47”. The post was interpreted as a threat against Trump, the 47th President of the United States, since the number 86 can be used as slang shorthand meaning to “get rid of” something or someone. Comey had captioned the image: “Curious shell formation during my beach walk.” He later deleted the post and apologised, stating that he had not realised those numbers were associated with violence. “It never occurred to me, but I am opposed to any form of violence, so I removed the post,” he wrote on Instagram. Comey had already been indicted once by the Department of Justice on charges of lying to Congress, but the case was dismissed by judges.
