Rome, 21 May (LaPresse) – Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Andriy Melnyk, has urged UN member states to find a political and legal mechanism to strip Russia of its status as a permanent member of the Security Council due to the war against Ukraine. According to Melnyk, “Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is characterised by the cruelty and systematic nature of the violence perpetrated against the civilian population”. Melnyk described “the first four months of this year” as “the deadliest period ever” for Ukrainian civilians.
