Milan, 25 May (LaPresse) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, is being held in a secret location with little access to the outside world and can only be reached via a complex network of couriers. This is reported by CBS, citing US intelligence sources. According to the news outlet, Iranian officials authorised to work with the Trump administration have struggled to communicate within their own government system, and this is said to be one of the main reasons why details of a potential deal with Iran and past agreements have been slow to emerge. According to CBS, by design, not even officials at the highest levels of the Iranian government know where Khamenei is and have no way of contacting him directly. “When the US sends detailed proposals, the difficulty in reaching the Supreme Leader leads to long delays before the US receives a response,” said two of the officials quoted by the broadcaster.
