Milan, 26 May (LaPresse) – The US military has carried out ‘self-defence strikes’ against Iranian missile launch sites and vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, despite the ceasefire in place and ongoing negotiations to end the war. ‘US forces conducted self-defence strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,’ Centcom spokesman Timothy Hawkins told CNN in response to a question about reported explosions near the Strait of Hormuz. “Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian vessels attempting to lay mines,” he added, “US Central Command continues to defend our forces, whilst exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.”
