Rome, 28 May (LaPresse) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, in a message issued to mark the anniversary of the opening of the first session of the Majlis (Islamic Consultative Assembly) and the start of the third year of the 12th Assembly’s term, accused Iran’s “enemies”, the US and Israel, of seeking to destabilise the country through internal division, calling on all sections of society to preserve national unity. This is reported by the Iranian media. “The enemy’s blind plan, following the imposed war, economic pressure, propaganda and political siege, is to create divisions and social disintegration to compensate for defeats on the military front and bring the nation to its knees,” Khamenei stated. The Supreme Leader then urged the strengthening of the country’s internal cohesion: “It is necessary that everyone who has made sacrifices, whose hearts beat for Islam and the revolution, or for Iran’s independence and pride, must from now on commit themselves more than ever to protecting the unity of the nation’s cohesive and interconnected ranks.”
