Frankfurt (Germany), 12 June (LaPresse) – The United States intends to reduce the number of aircraft and warships available for NATO operations in Europe. This was reported on Friday by The New York Times, citing two senior European officials. According to the report, this reduction would affect NATO’s ability to conduct long-range strikes and surveillance operations. The planned changes include the redeployment of a missile submarine and an aircraft carrier, as well as several warships and dozens of aircraft supporting the aircraft carrier’s missions; the newspaper added that one of the two bomber groups previously assigned to the defence of Europe could also be redeployed.
