This was reported on Friday by The New York Times, citing two senior European officials. According to the report, this reduction would affect NATO’s ability to conduct long-range strikes and surveillance operations. The planned changes include the redeployment of a missile submarine and an aircraft carrier, as well as several warships and dozens of aircraft supporting the aircraft carrier’s missions; the newspaper added that one of the two bomber groups previously assigned to the defence of Europe could also be redeployed.
