Milan, 19 June (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump, during his meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the G7 summit in France, told Lee that “the time has come to focus on the North Korean issue”. Lee himself reported this during a press briefing, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap. “President Trump was the first to mention that he had posted the photo taken with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on social media. He also said that the time had come to focus on the North Korean issue,” Lee stated. “During the photo session, he first asked me how things were progressing regarding the North Korean issue, so the conversation flowed naturally from there,” Lee explained, adding that during the event Trump went on to say that “it is regrettable that we were unable to take the necessary measures at an earlier stage, before North Korea actually acquired nuclear weapons”. “I made it clear that, at this stage, we must not approach the North Korean nuclear issue in the same way as we deal with other countries,” the South Korean president explained, noting that Trump “agreed, but seems to be struggling to find an appropriate solution”.
