Rome, 20 June (LaPresse) – A senior Hezbollah figure has stated that the ceasefire in Lebanon is ‘meaningless’ as long as Israeli forces remain in the country, and warned that any further aggression by Israel will be met with a response. “The resistance’s position is clear, unequivocal, non-negotiable and irreversible,” said Ali Fayyad, a representative of the Hezbollah faction in the Lebanese parliament, in comments reported by the Iranian news agency Tasnim. “A ceasefire whilst the enemy continues its targeted attacks and assassinations is meaningless. “The right to self-defence is a given for us and is not subject to bargaining or negotiation,” he added. “Iran’s resolute military and diplomatic support for the Lebanese people, and its firm commitment to continuing to play this role until the Zionist occupiers leave our country,” he added, “are all reasons why we can speak of an effective balance of power with the Zionist enemy. This balance paves the way for forcing them to leave our land,” he concluded.
