(LaPresse) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a conversation on Monday in which they stressed “the importance of continued diplomatic engagement, stronger bilateral cooperation and collective regional efforts to preserve peace and stability.” This was reported by the Iranian news agency Tasnim. The two leaders, it is reported, “reviewed the latest regional developments and reiterated that diplomacy and greater coordination among regional countries remain essential to prevent tensions and promote long-term security.” Pezeshkian “praised the Turkish government and people for their support for diplomatic solutions and for their peace-oriented positions during recent regional developments” and stated that “Iran appreciates Ankara’s constructive approach and its efforts during the 12-day conflict and the recent US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran to help resolve issues through diplomacy.” Referring to the recent memorandum of understanding that ended the war, the Iranian president said that the outcome “was achieved thanks to the efforts of Turkey, Pakistan and other Islamic countries,” the agency noted. Pezeshkian added that regional states “should continue working so that Lebanon can benefit from the peace process and so that Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine cease,” and reiterated that Iran “is fully ready to pursue diplomacy within the framework of international law.”
