Rome, 23 June (LaPresse) – Russia is now “focused on achieving its objectives” in Ukraine, “based on the realisation that the West has failed in its role as an impartial mediator and should not be taken seriously”. This was the view expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as quoted by the Russian news agency Interfax. “We are now focusing on achieving the objectives of the special military operation, on the basis that all Western initiatives and all hopes placed in the West as an impartial mediator have long since failed,” he said during a round-table discussion on the situation in Ukraine. “There is no reason to take them seriously,” he added.
