Madrid (Spain), 24 June (LaPresse) – Vox leader Santiago Abascal has accused Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of plotting electoral fraud to remain in power. “He is trying to manipulate the upcoming elections to skew the result,” Abascal told the Congress of Deputies, adding that “every effort” must be made to ensure “free and transparent elections”, and that “Sánchez is working every day to prevent this”. Abascal claimed that Sánchez’s inner circle had “enriched itself” illegally and that the PSOE “had received illegal funding”, without providing any evidence, and reiterated the accusation of “mafia-like behaviour”. He then referred to the case in which former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is under investigation, speaking of “blood diamonds” in relation to the jewellery found in the safe in his office. The leader of Spain’s far right then insulted the Prime Minister, stating that resilience is not everything. “Cockroaches are more resilient than you, and that doesn’t make them any more admirable,” he concluded.
