Turin, 25 June (LaPresse) – The EU Council today extended the European Union’s restrictive measures against Russia for a further 12 months, until 31 July 2027. This decision follows the European Council meeting of 18–19 June 2026, during which EU leaders agreed to extend economic sanctions against Moscow for twelve months. The measures currently in force “cover key sectors, including trade, finance, energy and dual-use technologies” and “also include a ban on the import or transfer into the EU of crude oil transported by sea and certain petroleum products originating in Russia, a ban on transactions with numerous financial institutions and cryptocurrency service providers in Russia and third countries, as well as the suspension of broadcasting activities and licences within the European Union for several Kremlin-backed disinformation outlets”, a statement reads. “Furthermore, specific measures enable the EU to counter the circumvention of sanctions”.
