Rome, 27 June (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump’s remarks regarding Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni “certainly came as a surprise, but I believe that transatlantic relations are the most important aspect of Italian foreign policy”. This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during his speech at the Dubrovnik Forum. “Transatlantic relations are relations between Italy, Europe and the United States of America, not relations between the Italian government or European governments and the US government,” he emphasised further. “We want to move forward because friendship with America is more important than the President’s remarks about Italy and the Prime Minister – remarks that were unbelievable,” he concluded.
