Rome, June 28 (LaPresse) – The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, held a phone call with Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez following the devastating earthquakes that hit the country. “I expressed the EU’s full solidarity with the Venezuelan people and our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones,” she wrote on X. “The EU has already mobilised €5 million in emergency aid for affected communities. We have activated the European Civil Protection Mechanism, and several Member States have rapidly deployed search and rescue teams, firefighters and medical personnel.” She added that the EU’s Copernicus satellite system is supporting rescuers by helping map damage and direct aid where it is most needed. “Europe stands with Venezuela in this moment of need,” Kallas concluded.
