Ankara (Turkey), 8 July (LaPresse/AP) – “Greenland, of course, is not for sale.” This was stated by the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, on her arrival at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey. “We hope that everyone, including all our allies, will respect the Greenlandic people’s right to self-determination,” she added, “we are sovereign states and we need everyone to respect our territorial integrity and our sovereignty.” She went on to say that Denmark is “ready to defend every inch of NATO, including its own territory” in the event of an attack, and that it would rely on its NATO allies to honour their commitment to defend one another.
