Milan, July 16 (LaPresse) – Jean-Claude Savoy, the former mayor of Chermignon and one of the individuals under investigation regarding the New Year’s Day fire at the “Le Constellation” bar in Crans-Montana, answered questions from the prosecutors in Sion this morning. As he had announced following his initial, brief hearing, he has now decided to cooperate with the authorities. On May 13, the retired politician had exercised his right to remain silent—as permitted under the Swiss Penal Code—because he had not yet gained access to the case file, which he has since received. “Once I have access to the dossier, I will answer the questions. I accept my political responsibilities, which are evident,” he had stated in May, according to Swiss Info. Savoy, who served as mayor of Chermignon from 2009 to 2016, is under investigation for co-signing the operating permit for the “Le Constellation” bar in 2015, following renovations commissioned by the new operator, Jacques Moretti.
