Rome, 19 July (LaPresse) – An Israeli security source, quoted by the Saudi broadcaster al-Hadath, claims that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei “is not in Iran”. According to the source, Khamenei’s messages are written by the new head of the Pasdaran, Ahmad Vahidi, and by other members of the Corps. “The internal divisions within Iran are deep and threaten the very existence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” the source states. Khamenei, who was appointed Supreme Leader shortly after his father’s assassination in the Israeli-American attacks on 28 February, has since communicated only through written statements and has made no public appearances. The Israeli source also states that the United States does not wish Israel to take part in attacks against Iran, even in the event of an attack by Tehran.
