Milan, 23 July (LaPresse) – During a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Manila, in the Philippines, held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking on the subject of Ukraine, “outlined to his American counterpart the actual situation along the line of contact and emphasised the unacceptability of further rearmament of the Kyiv regime and the generally destabilising policies of European countries, which continue to pursue a ‘strategic defeat’ of Russia”. This was reported in a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, which added that Lavrov “reiterated Russia’s readiness for a political and diplomatic resolution to the conflict and its commitment to the proposals put forward by the American side during the meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Anchorage, to which the Russian leader had given his consent”.
