Turin, 25 July (LaPresse) – From this evening, France is deploying 1,500 soldiers to tackle the wildfires that have spread across the country. This was announced by the Ministry of Defence. The troops will have “the specific task of supporting the evacuation of residents in areas threatened by the fires” and “will also help to protect homes left unattended”, the ministry explained in a statement. Around 1,000 soldiers had been mobilised so far, according to Le Parisien.
