Wildfires: von der Leyen: ‘The EU stands with France and Spain’

Turin, 25 July (LaPresse) – “Europe stands shoulder to shoulder with France and Spain in the face of the devastating wildfires that are raging” in the two countries. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote this on X, noting that “five aircraft and two helicopters from the rescEU fleet are now deployed in France. And four aircraft will arrive in Spain today. Copernicus is also providing emergency maps to support the response efforts in both countries,” she adds. “My thoughts,” she concludes, “go out to the firefighters who are bravely battling the flames and to all those who have been evacuated.”
