Washington (USA), July 30 (LaPresse) – The United States Senate failed to approve a resolution aimed at censuring President Donald Trump over his handling of the war in Iran. The final vote was 49 in favor and 50 against. Last June, during the ceasefire, the Senate had approved a resolution aimed at limiting the use of military forces in Iran. However, the following day the House reversed course, failing to pass a similar measure on war powers. Republican senators Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Rand Paul voted with Democrats to limit the president’s war powers, while Democratic Senator John Fetterman sided with all Republicans in voting against the measure. This is the thirteenth time since the beginning of the year that the Senate has voted on a measure concerning war powers in relation to Iran.
