This was reported by a local official. The Russian attack involved missiles and drones. On Wednesday, President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned that Russia was preparing for a “massive attack”, urging the population to pay attention to air raid alerts. In the early hours of today, the Ukrainian armed forces reported numerous missile and drone attacks across the country. The attacks come after Zelensky met US President Donald Trump in Washington this week to urge the United States to grant Ukraine a licence to produce Patriot interceptor missiles. Eight other people were injured, including two children, the official added, noting that the death toll could rise. Also in the attacks in Ukraine, in Kyiv, one person died and fires broke out overnight in three non-residential buildings, as the capital’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, wrote on Telegram. Explosions were also heard in Lviv, reported Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, adding that some residential buildings had sustained damage.
