Turin, 1 August (LaPresse) – A private event was taking place at the ‘Balzi Rossi’ restaurant in central Moscow, where an explosion occurred, killing three people and injuring a further 15. ‘Novaya Gazeta’, an independent Russian media outlet, reports that the restaurant’s website stated that on 1 August it would be closed to the public for a banquet. Some witnesses said that a wedding was taking place with around 50 guests. The pro-government blogger Anastasia Kashevarova claims that ‘someone from the elite’ was celebrating at the venue, which is considered one of Moscow’s most expensive restaurants. One witness told Astra that a general’s birthday was being celebrated at the restaurant. Numerous cars with black number plates were parked near the restaurant. Furthermore, a Russian National Guard bus was parked nearby.
