Yemen: 30 Dead and 50 Wounded in Attacks by Houthi Rebels

Cairo (Egypt), Aug. 6 (LaPresse/AP) — Yemeni government officials reported that Houthi rebels launched attacks in the central part of the country, killing at least 30 government soldiers and wounding at least 50 others. The attacks targeted camps of the internationally recognized government forces in the provinces of Marib and Hadhramaut, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. The attacks represented a serious escalation of the de facto ceasefire in effect in Yemen since April 2022, which had put an end to major clashes between the Iran-backed Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition supporting the internationally recognized government.
