Migrants: EU to Spain: “Measures taken in response to the Ceuta crisis must not affect the Schengen Area”

Madrid (Spain), 8 Aug. (LaPresse) – The EU has asked Spain to ensure that the measures adopted to tackle the migrant crisis in Ceuta “do not affect the Schengen area”, amidst the ongoing clash between the governments of Pedro Sánchez and Giorgia Meloni. The Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, told El Mundo that the measures adopted by Madrid must not affect the free movement of citizens. “We hope that the Spanish authorities, in cooperation with their Moroccan counterparts, will honour their commitment to ensure that the measures adopted in response to the situation have no impact on the Schengen area,” said Brunner.
