New York (US), 9 August (LaPresse/AP) – Tragedy struck on Saturday evening in New York Harbour, where a Bayliner motorboat measuring approximately 6.7 metres capsized near Liberty Island, home to the Statue of Liberty. A 27-year-old woman and a baby girl aged just five months died in the accident. Twelve people were rescued from the water. Police divers subsequently located the woman and the baby, both of whom were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The other people involved sustained minor injuries. The identities of the victims have not been made public pending notification of their families, police said on Sunday.
