This is reported by the Washington Post. According to the newspaper, rather than obtaining the funds directly from Congress, the administration has sourced funds from other bodies and private donors, channelling them into an account set aside for routine maintenance of the White House, which had only a few million dollars available. Confidential contracts and related planning documentation indicate that the administration intends to use the money in that account for White House ‘modernisation’ projects, the Washington Post further explained.
