Francoforte (Germany), Aug. 13 (LaPresse) – The Israeli army will not withdraw from the security zone in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is completely disarmed and the threat posed by the group is eliminated throughout the country. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said this, as reported by Al Jazeera. “We will not withdraw from the security zone in Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed and the threat from Hezbollah throughout Lebanon is eliminated,” Katz said, adding that he had instructed the armed forces to prepare for “a prolonged presence in the area, to protect the fighting forces and the communities, until this objective is fully achieved.” Katz’s position echoes that expressed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Gaza Strip. The Israeli prime minister has in fact reiterated in recent days that Israel will not withdraw from Gaza before Hamas is completely disarmed.
