Rome, 13 Aug. (LaPresse) – The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, has condemned the siege by Israeli settlers of several Palestinian homes in Qusra, south of Nablus, including that of a US citizen. Huckabee described the settlers’ actions as acts of “terrorism” and went on to deny allegations that Washington and the embassy had failed to intervene in defence of the US citizen. “The embassy was very much involved, and the Israeli Defence Forces and the Israeli police intervened at our request to remove the Israeli terrorists responsible. The actions of those who carried out this act against this family’s home are criminal. The White House did not ‘intervene’ because we had already kept Washington informed of the situation. The actions of those who perpetrated this horrific act of terrorism, aimed at intimidating and harassing this family, are appalling. There is no excuse for such violent behaviour. To claim that the embassy is unconcerned or has done nothing is simply false,” the ambassador wrote on X.
