Washington (USA), Aug. 16 (LaPresse) – A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department issued a statement overnight between Saturday and Sunday, in an interview with Al Jazeera, placing full responsibility on Hezbollah for the Israeli military presence on Lebanese territory. According to the spokesperson, the militant organization represents the main obstacle to Lebanon’s reconstruction and economic recovery. “Hezbollah is solely responsible for the Israeli presence on Lebanese soil,” the spokesperson said, stressing that “the Zahrani pilot project is the only viable path to achieving peace.” The spokesperson added that Washington expects the Lebanese army to complete clearance operations in these areas.
