Rome, 23 August (LaPresse) – A protester arrested during last December’s demonstrations was executed this morning west of Tehran. Al Jazeera reports this, citing the Iranian news agency Tasnim. Majid Adineh is said to have been arrested in possession of ‘full military equipment’, including a pistol, 30 rounds of ammunition, two tasers, two canisters of tear gas, a battery-powered chainsaw and a bottle of petrol. According to the Tasnim news agency, Adineh was found guilty by the Revolutionary Court in Karaj of “carrying out operational activities on behalf of hostile groups and the Zionist and American regimes”, as well as a series of offences relating to the possession of weapons. In recent weeks, human rights organisations and Western countries have expressed alarm at the rise in executions in Iran, including those of people involved in the protests.
