Rome, 23 Aug. (LaPresse) – Russia “plans to mobilise around 300,000 people following the Duma elections in September”, but “will do so without involving the country’s major cities, in an attempt to minimise negative public reaction”. This was stated by the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, as quoted by the Kiev Independent. According to Zelensky, the 300,000 mobilised soldiers would be in addition to the influx of conscripts already in the Russian army and will be deployed to bolster Moscow’s main offensive against the fortified cities in the Donetsk region, or to create new threats in other areas, including Ukraine’s northern border.
