(LaPresse) – Two people have died following an attack that took place in the early afternoon at a private school in Gosen-Neu Zittau, Brandenburg, on the border with Berlin. According to reports from DPA, the alleged perpetrator has been apprehended by the police. It is not yet clear how many other people have been injured. The incident took place on the campus of the private school Docemus. The police were alerted at around 1.45 pm following several emergency calls, reports the ‘Maerkische Allgemeine’. The area around the school has been cordoned off by the police. According to German media reports, the victims are an 18-year-old secondary school pupil and a 30-year-old man, the local newspaper adds. The 30-year-old is believed to have died whilst attempting to intervene to stop the alleged attacker. According to initial reports, the suspect is a 19-year-old, the ex-boyfriend of the girl who was killed. It is not yet clear whether the young man currently attends the school or studied there in the past. The exact circumstances of the attack are still to be clarified. Numerous police officers, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene.
