(LaPresse) – “A terrible situation and a terrible case of negligence on the part of those who stored explosives alongside the civilian population.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote this on X, commenting on the explosion that occurred in the village of Myla, in the Kyiv region, following a Russian attack. Zelensky confirmed that the initial attack struck a Ukrainian Defence Forces depot, a facility which, according to the president, “certainly should not have been there”. The depot contained shells, mines, other munitions and drones, which subsequently exploded. “The scale of the incident is significant,” added the Ukrainian president, describing a further incident of this kind – following what had previously happened in Vyshneve – as “absolutely unacceptable”. Zelensky reported that he had discussed the situation with the Attorney General, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ukrainian security services and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. “They have everything they need for the investigation,” he assured. Finally, the President called for the details of the incident to be made public swiftly and thanked the rescue workers in Myla and the other towns hit by Russian attacks for their efforts in assisting and rescuing the population.
