Rome, Aug. 30 (LaPresse) – Iceland has rejected the referendum, with the ‘no’ vote winning on negotiations to join the European Union. Broadcaster Ruv reported this. The final results put ‘no’ at 52.8%, while ‘yes’ received 47.2%. A total of 225,031 votes were cast, with voter turnout at 82.5%. This is the highest voter turnout recorded in Iceland since the parliamentary elections of April 2009, when it stood at 85.1%.
