Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, has been in contact with Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir, as reported by RUV. Costa reiterated the European Union’s respect for the democratic choice of the Icelandic people and that Iceland remains one of the European Union’s closest partners, particularly through the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The two leaders also confirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Iceland and the European Union.
