Rome, Sept. 5 (LaPresse) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has urged the United States and Iran to return to the negotiating table. The head of Egyptian diplomacy made the remarks during two separate phone calls with the foreign ministers of Bahrain and Oman, a country overlooking the Strait of Hormuz, opposite Iran. Abdelatty also called for de-escalation to be made a priority, the Egyptian ministry said, and urged guarantees for the safety of navigation in the strait, where traffic remains reduced due to Iran’s continued control of the waterway.
