The envoys were met at the airport by Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, according to reports from the Russian state news agency TASS. The last known visit to Moscow by Witkoff and Kushner – President Donald Trump’s son-in-law – was in January 2026, when they met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin. They have never visited Kyiv, but President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he is expecting them in the Ukrainian capital on Sunday. Washington’s push to end the war, now in its fifth year, has lost momentum as US attention has focused on the conflict with Iran over the past six months. Earlier this week, Putin described the negotiations as “to some extent frozen”.
