(LaPresse) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that, during talks held in Kyiv attended by US presidential envoys and national security advisers from the E3 countries, discussions centred not only on possible parameters for ending the war, but also on the issue of short-term support for Ukraine. This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda, which noted that Zelensky said a total of three rounds of talks had taken place on 6 September, all of which were “very substantive”. The president joked that the presence of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Kyiv “worked better than the Patriot systems” and expressed the hope that they would return more often, so that ordinary Ukrainians might have the opportunity to “live a little” without Russian bombardments. “Sometimes we can joke about the Patriots, but nevertheless we understand that this is a highly topical issue, one that is very important to us… If the war were to continue into winter – and so far it certainly looks that way – we are counting heavily on the ‘winter package’, which I discussed in detail today with Steve, Jared and our European partners,” said Zelensky.
