Madrid (Spain), Sept. 7 (LaPresse) – Speaking about the situation in Ceuta, where around 5,000 migrants still remain, according to data released by the Spanish government, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that “those who have the right to asylum will obtain it and those who are not entitled to it will be repatriated”. The socialist leader is speaking at a meeting of deputies and senators from his party, the PSOE, at the start of the new legislative year. “What we saw yesterday in Saxony is a warning and also a confirmation. A warning that the far-right threat, largely as a result of the traditional right’s surrender, is gaining ground in Europe and around the world, and the confirmation that the progressive coalition government we have in Spain is now more necessary than ever,” Sanchez added, commenting on the AfD’s victory in the regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt. The world has its eyes on us, we are the vanguard of progress against the reactionaries, we are the spearhead of progressive policies that are enabling growth and job creation, strengthening the welfare state and providing a fair response to digital and ecological transformations, therefore, let us not forget that every day of progress, every policy passed in this Parliament is one more day and one more right won against the extremists,” he continued. “You will have seen that the entire international far-right movement in Europe and across the Atlantic is attacking Spain, there must be a reason for that,” the prime minister said, “after eight years of progressive government, Spain is proof that the opposite of their hatred is our progress.”
