This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “I don’t want to be overly optimistic, but nor am I pessimistic, in the sense that I believe there is an opportunity, in the coming weeks, to draw up a roadmap to resume talks and perhaps reach a conclusion acceptable to both sides, because that is precisely what will be needed,” said Rubio, adding that in recent months the United States had taken a step back from its role as mediator as it appeared that neither side was making progress towards a solution, but that work now remains to be done to return to the negotiating table.
