(LaPresse) – US officials have reported that some of the White House’s top advisers have privately raised with US President Donald Trump the possibility that the war with Iran could drag on for the remainder of his term. The Wall Street Journal reports this, noting that this assessment contrasts with Trump’s public assurances of a swift victory. According to the officials, in the Oval Office and the Situation Room, Vice-President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other officials discussed with the President the possibility that Tehran might continue to resist US pressure – exerted through a naval blockade and other military tactics – potentially prolonging the conflict beyond Inauguration Day, scheduled for January 2029.
