(LaPresse) – An Iranian-flagged merchant ship was attacked early on Sunday morning near Hengam Island and off the coast of Shib Deraz, on Qeshm Island, near the Strait of Hormuz, in an incident that left at least one person dead and three injured. This was reported by the Iranian state broadcaster Irib. Local authorities confirmed the incident through the governor of Qeshm, Amir Teymouri, who stated that the vessel was struck at around 5 am (local time) in the area between Hengam Island and the coast of Qeshm. “A merchant ship was attacked today at around 5 am in the area between Hormuz Island and the coast of Shib Deraz on Qeshm Island. One person died and three were injured in the incident,” Teymouri said, according to the Iranian broadcaster.
