(LaPresse) – US President’s Special Envoy Jared Kushner has stated that the main obstacle to reaching an agreement to end the war remains Ukraine’s refusal to cede the territories claimed by Vladimir Putin. This is reported by the Ukrainian newspaper Pravda. According to Kushner, Washington has already drafted most of a potential peace agreement. However, the territorial issue is holding up the agreement, as Ukraine refuses to accept the demands of the aggressor state. “President Putin has drawn a line outlining what he wants to achieve. If Ukraine were to agree to withdraw to that line, the rest of the agreement would already be finalised. But Ukraine is not currently willing to do so. And our task, as mediators, is to find a creative solution that does not conflict with Ukraine’s wishes, that contributes to achieving the objective and that, at the same time, encourages Russia to bring the conflict to an end in a way that allows both sides to look to the future within a framework that prevents a similar situation from recurring,” said Kushner.
