Washington (USA), 15 Sep. (LaPresse) – A federal judge has again blocked the Kennedy Center in Washington’s attempt to name the building after Donald Trump and rename the complex in his honor. Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the Kennedy Center board of directors cannot proceed with the plans without the “well-being of Congress,” finding that an August vote on the renaming likely violated his previous injunction. This is, in fact, the second time Cooper has prevented the Kennedy Center from carving Trump’s name on the front porch of the performing arts center in the US federal capital, ruling in favor of Democratic Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, a member of the council by right who challenged these initiatives. In late May, Cooper ordered Trump’s name removed from the building’s facade, ruling that the decision by the council, whose majority of members were appointed by Trump, was unlawful, as only Congress had the authority to change the center’s name.
