Turin, 16 Sept. (LaPresse) – Washington cannot allow its foreign policy in the Middle East to be “subordinate to the State of Israel”. This was stated by US Vice-President JD Vance whilst speaking at a conference organised by All-In Podcast. “Of course, Israel has been an important partner when it comes to military technology and the sharing of intelligence, but sometimes the United States disagrees with Israel,” he explained. “I believe that, frankly, more than any other president in the last 40 years, he has demonstrated a willingness to stand with Netanyahu when he believes that the interests of the American people differ from those of the Israeli government,” he said. “Donald Trump is the only president in the last 40 years who has been prepared to say, ‘You know what? Yes, Bibi is a good partner, but Bibi and I have a different view on this’, or ‘Bibi is wrong about this’, or perhaps ‘Bibi is right from Israel’s point of view, but the American people need us to take a different direction’. According to Vance, “grounding this relationship, like all relationships, in America’s interests is the way to actually have a rational conversation”.
