Turin, 17 Sept. (LaPresse) – Russia and China have vetoed a draft US resolution at the United Nations Security Council aimed at extending the mandate of a committee overseeing sanctions against Iran. According to a Security Council report, as reported by Al Jazeera, the two permanent member states had already opposed the draft when the text of the resolution was tabled at the end of August, expressing their opposition to the so-called ‘snapback mechanism’ for international sanctions against Iran.
